Providing Cardiac Genetic counseling and Care
Kristen DeBerg, MS, LCGC provides cardiac genetic counseling services.
Kristen helps identify if there is suspicion for a hereditary cardiac condition and which family members are at risk of inherited cardiovascular condition.
A genetic counseling visit includes:
- Discussion of what genetic testing is available
- How such testing can help you and your family members
After counseling and testing, your cardiologist and genetic counselor give you and your family information for:
- How to check for the development of heart problems in at-risk family members
- Steps that can be taken to prevent heart problems
She also provides support and counseling to help you and your family deal with the emotions that arise when someone in the family has an inherited condition.
In addition, Kristen also serves as clinical instructor for the University of South Dakota Medical School, and faculty for the joint Augustana/Sanford Genetic Counseling program.
